What is Vedic Jyotish
Astrology is called Jyotish in Sanskrit, the language of the Vedas. This is from where Vedic Jyotish is born. Jyotish is only a part of Vedas. Vedas are actually a way of life. Ayurveda, Samveda, Yajurveda, Atharveda etc., are treatise of various facets of life and the way to live life more fruitfully.
Jyotish, as it is called in Sanskrit, is “Jyoti of Ishwar”, The Light of God. It shows us path to enlighten ourselves about what we can expect from this incarnation. It helps us make informed choices in life, so that we can enjoy and fulfill the four Purusharthas, or the four achievements of our life, which is also our duty. These are Dharma (learning to be wise, get education, and having a faith in god), Artha (Earn in form of money, movable and immovable assets), Kama (Enjoyments of Sex, House, Vehicles and of all kinds), Moksha (Pursuit to achieve Nirvana and Ultimate oneness with the divine).
Jyotish helps us find our strengths and weakness. It tells us what we lack in ourselves and the areas that need improvement. It also tells our achievements and the areas in which we have done well. This knowledge can help us do more work to make up for our lacking and keep the good work on in the areas of strength.
